What does a Civil Funeral Celebrant do?

We will meet to discuss the kind of funeral ceremony that you would like, and as you recall the person’s life we will put together music and readings which truly reflect them and help to tell their story. Once I have prepared a draft tribute, I will send a copy  to you which together we can correct and amend.

I will liaise with funeral directors (where appropriate) and staff at the crematorium or burial ground in the days leading up to the funeral, as well as remaining in close contact with you, the family. On the day itself, I will conduct the ceremony and afterwards send a presentation copy of the full ceremony. So many families have told me how much they appreciate being able to re-read the words and memories shared in the weeks and months after the funeral, because on the actual day their emotion and grief made it hard to fully absorb what was said.

Reading / Poem of the week

In The Wake Of Loss

However unforeseen, it is wise to pause and grieve with those whom we love. For devotion is the balm which can help to ease life’s pain
